By repurposing found materials, Nari Ward creates installations, sculptures, and paintings that address sociopolitical inequities. All Stars transforms everyday objects into an enigmatic meditation on the history of the cotton and sugarcane industries. Ward dipped pieces of cotton in melted sugar before burning and ironing the edges. Adhered to a baseball bat, these materials come together in a weaponized form that melds the violent capabilities of a club and the healing abilities of cotton.
