By Subway


The closest MTA subway station is the 125th stop on the 2/3 trains. This station does not have elevators and is not wheelchair accessible.


The closest wheelchair accessible MTA subway station is the 125th stop on the A/C/D/B trains. This station has elevators on the corners of 125th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue.

By Bus


The closest MTA bus stop is the West 125 Street/Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard stop on the M101 or M125 bus.


Visitors with disabilities receive a discounted admission rate; admission for one care partner is free.

At the Museum

The main entrance is wheelchair accessible with elevators located at all levels. If you would like support navigating elevators or step-free routes, please ask a Studio Museum staff member.


All restrooms are wheelchair accessible. All-gender restrooms can be found on Floors 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Multiple-stall restrooms can be found on the Lower Level. These multiple-stall restrooms include stalls with child-sized changing tables.


Adult- and children-sized manual wheelchairs and rollators are available at the Coat Check located on the Lower Level. Please return wheelchairs and rollators to the Coat Check after your visit.


The Museum welcomes trained service dogs for people with disability.


Backless benches can be found in each gallery with additional seating on the Stoop and in the Cafe.

The Stoop is equipped with T-coil induction loops. To improve hearing quality while on the Stoop, turn your hearing aid or cochlear implant to T-coil mode.


Assistive listening devices with headsets are available for tours and programs. These can be found at the Lobby Desk.


American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation and CART captioning are available for tours and programs with at least two weeks’ notice. We will attempt to fulfill all interpretation requests, even if two weeks' notice is not possible. Contact us at 212.864.4500 or email [email protected] to request these services.

Detailed verbal descriptions of artworks from the Studio Museum’s special exhibitions can be found on the website and the Bloomberg Connects app.

Sensory kits can be picked up from the Lobby Desk or Info Desk upon arrival.


Child-sized ear defenders are available at the Lobby Desk.

Access Programs

The Studio Museum’s Access Programs invite Deaf and disabled visitors to engage in workshops, tours, and multidimensional experiences that foreground creativity and mutual support.

A monthly Museum educator–led tours that explore works of art in the Studio Museum’s exhibitions through detailed verbal descriptions conveying the visual aspects of artworks on view. This tour is designed for blind and low-vision visitors. Tactile elements and assisted-listening devices will be provided.

A monthly gallery tour in American Sign Language (ASL) led by a Deaf museum educator that engages participants in conversation about art on view in the Studio Museum’s exhibitions. These monthly tours incorporate tactile elements, and assisted-listening devices will be provided.

Arts & Minds and the Studio Museum in Harlem invite adults with memory disorders and their caregivers to explore new experiences with art. These monthly tours include lively discussions and hands-on art activities inspired by the artists and processes featured in the From Now: A Collection in Context exhibition.


Folding stools, assistive listening devices, and tactile elements will be provided.
