Lavender Night: Celebrating Marsha P. Johnson

06.15.2022

Zoom

Join us for Lavender Night, created by The Studio Museum in Harlem’s Teen Leadership Council (TLC). Lavender Night is a safe space for queer teens to share their stories, meet other members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and understand the positive ways that individuals with different experiences can come together and learn about each other. For the event, TLC will host a night filled with cinema and games. We will be screening Happy Birthday, Marsha! (2018), a film by Tourmaline and Sasha Wortzel, about the trailblazing trans activist Marsha “Pay It No Mind” Johnson. The screening will be followed by time for questions with cast members Jay Toole and Miss Egyptt, along with a fun game about the film. Participants will be able to learn about the Stonewall Uprising, the movement that forever changed the course of the gay rights movement.
